DVD Moviefactory 5 VS Videostudio 10

Post by ron2 »

Hello all
I was wondering what the difference is between the two programs,DVD Movie factory5 VS Video studio 10
I downloaded Trial Version Movie Factory 5 and have got use to using it in the thirty days period, and I like it pretty well.
Can I do the same thing with Video Studio 10 that I can do with Movie Factory 5 ?

Thank You
Ronnie

That's not such an easy question... Compare here.

Overall, Video Studio can do more than Movie Factory, and for most people who own a DV camera, it's the better choice.

However, there are things Movie Factory can do, which Video Studio can't. If you just wan't to transfer VHS tapes to DVD without any editing, Movie Factory is a good choice. (Some of us own more than one video-related program.... Some of these were mistakes, and others, we actually use!)

Video Studio is mainly an editing program. Video editing is all of the stuff that's done to "make a movie".

Movie Factory is mainly a DVD authoring program. DVD authoring is what's done to take an existing movie and put it on a DVD.

It's a bit like asking what is better, a sports car or a tractor. Both of them have 4 wheels and an engine and can be driven by applying the accelerator and steering with the steering wheel.

Both will get you from A to B eventually but with the sports car you cannot plough a field while with the tractor you would not want to go downtown shopping.

MovieFactory is a program to author DVD movies and has a lot of burning capabilities. The editing capabilities are rather limited.

VideoStudio is a program to do your editing with and apply filters etc. to your video. It¡¦s authoring and burning capabilities are limited.

Personally, I don¡¦t even use VS because of its basic features compared to MediaStudioPro. While MSP is a lot more advanced than VS, I still used MovieFactory to author my DVDs and burn them to disk.

It has advanced editing features and the dvd creation/burning module is almost identical to MovieFactory.

I tend to agree with the above, the emphasis must be on "almost" though.
