Question for Burning A HD DVD disc using VS10.0+

Post by lgd18 »

Hello,

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to burn a HD DVD using VS10.0+ through a regular DVD Writer?

So far, I have not found the Blu-ray DVD writer in the market. It seems this function in VS10.0+ is too advanced! No use right now, Am I right?

Thanks a lot!!

Yes it is possible to burn high definition video on a conventional DVD but it must be written as a data file and must be played back using one of the "Link" DVD players with a faster processsor chip. See HD Tutorial at http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=13872

Hi John,

Thank you so much for your excellent guide for HD editing & recording! It do be the best one so far.

Yes, that's true. We probably need not too long time to get the " Conventional HD DVD writer and media"...

Let's wait!

Best regards,

Hi Neonbob,
Pretty attractive info! I'm very excited to know that you have a powerful tool to burn a REAL HD to a standard dvd.
Have you practised all processes to get a "HD DVD" and play it back?
Thanks a lot!

My preference for HD playback is an external USB2 250GB hard drive, connected to the IOData AVLP2. I prefer this over any DVD simply because it is so easy to load up from the computer and has enormous capacity compared to any DVD.

The only limitation is the FAT format (of the AVLP2), which limits the video files to 4GB size - 20 minutes of mpeg2 HDV. However, this is no problem for Divx, which can fit a couple of hours of video in that space but Divx does take a long time to transcode.

BTW, if you have deep pockets, you can buy a Blu-Ray DVD burner/player for the PC for about $750 and blank disks for about $25 per.

Dears,

For discussions of Ulead products ONLY please.

And if you wish to know if Ulead can burn HD DVD on a DVD, check:
http://htchien.blogspot.com/2006/04/fir ... ulead.html

UVS 10 should be able to do that, too. And it's far earlier than Pinnacle.

If any more discussions on non-Ulead products, I will lock this thread.

Interesting... your various "competitors" don't mind at all in discussing other products in their forum... I own many products from many different companies and we are free to discuss and compare and debate at will. why is it so different here (just curious)?

You said, "UVS 10 should be able to do that....". What do you mean SHOULD.... either it does or it does not... since you brought it up, could you please explain?

OK, I'm confused, what are we talking about here?
A HD-DVD DISK (15gByte)
or a BD (BLU-RAY DISK) (25/50gByte)
By what I understand the BD (Blu-Ray Disk players will not play a HD-DVD) and vice versa.

These are 2 different disk formats, HD-DVD versus BD(Blu-Ray Disk).

The poster asks about burning a HD-DVD buts wants to use or questions a Blu-Ray Disk burner to do this?
I don't think that's possible? He needs to stay with Blu-Ray Dvd's?

MF5_Plus can create a HD-DVD with menus etc.
MF5_Plus can create a Blu-Ray Disk in -VR mode High_Definition Video files (no menus, plays the videos only etc). Also, standard defintion video can be burnt on the Blu-Ray Disk because it's part of the spec for backward compatibility.

I am pretty sure he is asking about burning HD-DVD to a standard 4.7gig disk for playback in the toshiba player and simply has the burner issue confused.

The answer is yes, you can burn a REAL hd-dvd on a standard dvd with a standard burner and it will play in the toshiba player. I have done about a dozen of these disks now and it works well. One note however... once you burn the disk, it will no longer be playable on your computer since your computer can not read HD-DVD.

I do this with another program that allows you to do this easily in a one-step effort.... but if you look at the above moderated posts, it is clear that I am not allowed to tell you the name of this program..... Sorry!

I don't understand the moderation of those posts.

I sure hope they evenutally make a player for all the formats.

Supposedly you can use MF5+ and create an ISO image of the HD-DVD.
Then burn that image to a dvd using Nero etc and it will play in the Toshiba HD-Dvd player.
Or, will MF+ burn the Hd-Dvd to a dvd-R?
Similiar to creating a mini-dvd on a CD disk.
