No sound from DVD import

Post by BarneyAtkins »

Hello!

I have VS 9 SE, which works fine except:

When I import from a DVD there is no sound. The sound works fine in other programs such as Nero, but in VS9 there is picture but no sound. VS9 recognises sound from other sources (such as MPEG files from the net), but not from my DVD drives. (My DVD drives are Pioneer 105 and 109).

I have tried several DVDs (DVD-R recorded on various stand-alone DVD recorders, and non-copy-protected pressed DVDs), but VS9 does not recognise the sound from any of them. The sound is there, because I save the imported file to my hard drive and Nero will play it perfectly. This applies to DVDs I have imported using the 'import from DVD' command in VS9 as well as MPEG files imported using other programs.

Is there something I am missing? Or does VS9 not support sound from DVDs?

Thanks for any help you can give,

Barney.

Please ignore my previous question!

I just found the answer in another post: "If you have VS9SE, it will not have the capacity to process Dolby audio for licensing reasons."

If I get VS10 I presume I will not have this problem?

Cheers,

Barney.

Indeed VS10 comes with Dolby support (the full version, not the trial).
Imports stereo dolby and can output 5.1.
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.
