combine vsp projects to one

Post by grc »

Is there a way to combine multiple VS projects to one and still be able to edit? I may have messed up, but in attempting to put together a highlight film, sectioned the various portions into different vsp's, e.g. Opening, player credits, cheerleader credits, etc. I thought to create a video file, then pull these files into a "new" project, but I still want to be able to edit the final version. I'd scratch my head, but I can't afford to lose anymore hair.

The more I read, it seems the more confused I get. I am pulling files from several sources, including VHS capture, miniDV, DVD, still images, you name it, I've got it. If I pull this off, it is thanks to this forum and a lot of luck!

BTW, I am using VS8 (yes, I know I should have gotten VS10).

Thanks for any help.

You can treat a VSP file as though it were in fact a video.
The advantages of doing this are:

1. You will only render once. Every time you render you risk losing some quality.
2. You can place the vsp file onto overlay tracks. This is one means of inserting transitions onto an overlay track.

Hi Steve,

In your reply, you provide a link for "Circular PIP Project". Within that thread you reference the following,
This project is based upon the following Tutorials and puts them all together to show
1. How to create a circular picture in picture effect
2. How to use a VideoStudio Project in the overlay track
3. How to use transitions in the overlay track.
The links for items #2 and #3 above refer to the same thread, #80298. I think #2 should reference thread #80298 and #3 should reference Ron P.'s recent thread on how to create transitions in the overlay track by overlapping clips using multiple overlay tracks. If I remember right, Ron even included a video tutorial within that thread. Just a suggestion. Thanks.
Cheers,

Bryan P.
