Using MF5 Trial version, the menus seem to be inoperative. I can't see any suggestion that this is a 'feature' of the trial version, and without seeing it work I won't be purchasing. I've tried creating both a DVD and a VCD with the same result. I've tested the resultant disks on two DVD players and with suitable software on a P.C.
The menus appear to work fine using the 'simulator' built into MF5, before I create the disks.
The disks do play OK but you can't jump to chapters. I've tried both thumbnail and a text menus, using the standard layouts supplied.
Inoperative menus
This sounds like something already discussed... you are probably trying to use the prev/next chapter controls within a menu (where they are not defined) instead of during clip play (where they work).
Maybe the "simulator" you are referring to is not the "Preview" function but the menu editor. In the menu editor the buttons look like prev/next chapter, but they are just there to get to and edit other menu pages!
Use the preview function to check the menu and playback... you'll see that the prev/next chapter get deactivated (grey) while in the menus. When you play a clip, they become active and work.
