Have a look through your email program. You might find some correspondence in there unless you are one of those tidy people that deletes everything.

Actually I am one of those "tidy" people. I have all kinds of stuff all filed in proper folders based on who sent it, etc.. I have all the registration and purchase confirmation emails. The oldest is dated 2002 for MovieFactory (1), the newest is July 9, 2007 " A welcome message from David Dobson, CEO of Corel Corporation", but nothing since, and nothing that gives me any contact email address. When they were ULEAD, I did not have very good luck in getgting responses, but at least i was able to send. Now they have "lost" me. What to do now?

I just logged in to ULEAD's Member area with my old credentials. It took me straight to Corel's site and all my purchases are listed there. Even every trial version I ever downloaded is listed there. The first entry is from August 2001.

Unfortunately, I can not. I have had the same email address forever. It is not recognised, so I can not get a new password. My account has just disappearred.
Is there an email address I can send a request to have this checked? I seem to be stumbling around in a infinite loop in the "Contact Us" area. "Must be registered to get support...Come here if you need support to get registered...Must be registered to get support..." If anyone has such an address PM or send me an email at bquerryATbigfootDOTcom (replace the AT and DOT appropriately of course).

Use plan "B"
Create a new account and register your existing version of VideoStudio.
If in fact you have got an account somewhere it will reject your attempt with a message telling you it is already registered to someone else.
If by some chance they have 'lost' your registration details it will let you register again.
Once done you should then find your free download links for VS11.5 and Corel Media One

While I am here...
After installing Corel Media One
Click [Help] and then you will see an option [Check for updates]
This will update your new installation with even more items.

Ulead Customer support is not very helpful and will not give me a new serial number

Back up that important software.
Whenever you purchase ANY software it is good practice to make at least one extra back up copy of the disc. Despite the claims a few years ago that discs were indestructible they are not. They get scratched; they can split in half and warp in extreme temperatures.

Serial Numbers.
When you make your back up copy include where possible a text file of the serial number on the disc.
You can also create a spreadsheet or database of ALL of your serial numbers for ALL of your software
Ulead or others, and burn copies onto another disc. Keep those databases updated when you purchase more software in the future. Also keep on that DATA CD copies of emails or scan copies of paper receipts relating to the purchase of your software. This will help you try and plead your case with the software vendors for a fresh download or replacement disc if by some misfortune your original disc AND your back up copy have somehow become destroyed or lost.

I will just add that it is not Corel's, Ulead's or any other software vendor to maintain your records or serial numbers. My opinion is, don't cry if something happens and you don't have it. Since computers are vulnerable to failure without warning, I'd write it down or if that's too much work, press the print button on your email or text editing program to print out a hard copy..;)

You don't get, do you? 8)

There is absolutely nothing anyone could do to give you back your registration code/serial number. To keep records of what you have bought and registered is YOUR responsibility. Anyone can claim to have a purchase receipt. Corel/InterVideo/Ulead cannot maintain a record of who bought which software. In most cases they simply don't know because they did not sell it to you. They also do not maintain huge databases of registered software and who registered it. Have you got any idea what it would cost to maintain such database?

Get real.

You still don't get it. We are neither Corel nor InterVideo nor Ulead  We are just a bunch of users like yourself, maybe a bit more experienced, certainly crazy enough to offer our spare time in an attempt to help other, less experienced users with their problems. :)

Do you really think Mr. Gates would give you your activation code/serial number for your XP or VISTA software if you were to lose it and need to re-install because your HDD crashed?

I can understand your frustration but, after all, it was you who lost it. If you think that is bad service from Corel/InterVideo, try another company, like Adobe for instance. Let us know how you go there if you lose your serial number.

Grow up, that's all I can say.

With Adobe you can retrive a new serial number immediaty after you can prove that you are a regular registered user, like, I repeat, ALL NORMAL SOFTWARE HOUSE ...
Sure that I can't take any other software from COREL or any other related SW house manged from COREL
You can continue to stay here and hope that your PC continue to work ...
