Urgent help required - going crazy!

Post by M&N »

I have just purchased videostudio 6 bundled with a vhs to dvd conversion set.

I get all the way to the finish tab but then can't burn the files as the export button is greyed out. Tried to render a few times but gets to about 17% then shuts down.

Help!

Hi Mandy, welcome to the Forums...:)

First we are going to need some more information. Please view This Thread, it provides a guideline to the specific information needed to help you.

Please complete your Image information found in your profile. This way you will not have to retype it later on.

Your version of VS6 came bundled with hardware, and is probably an SE version. These freebie versions are limited on what they can do. Unless it specifically states SE-DVD, you will not be able to burn a dvd. That part of the program will be disabled.

In order to determine what is happening when you are trying to render a video file, we need to know...
  • Where did you get your video, and how did you get it into your PC? From a camcorder, VCR, internet, TV, using Firewire, capture card, or capture device?
  • What is the format of your video clips? DV, AVI(full uncompressed), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MOV, WMV, Divx, Xvid?
You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial. It walks you through from capturing / transfering your video to your PC, to creating a DVD.

Hi Mandy,

If it does prove to be the case that you do only have VS6 SE, remember that you can download the free "TBYB" version of VS, which will give you 30 days to try out the program. It's a 135Mb download.

If it works for you, and suits your intended purposes, you should then have the option of buying the full VS10+ for around $50 with your VS6 SE as a qualifying existing purchase.
