Menu Duration Maximum?
Is there any way to make the menu duration longer than the arbitrary 254 max, for example to have a longer background audio file that plays uninterrupted?

No, 254 is the maximum.
You will have to do a workaround of some sort such as play the song as a first play video. Another method would be to clone the menu (make an identical copy) have the first half of your music on the one menu and the second half on the other.
Each menu would then have a hidden button that auto activates when it reaches the end of its menu duration. that hidden button causes the other menu to run. Not quite sure how smooth the audio transition will turn out but because both menus are carbon copies of each other, visually you wont see the change.

Thanks for the response.
I've actually done exactly what you describe and it worked fine because the song I was using had two spots in it where all the music stopped for a beat before continuing, so I split the song there and made three copies of the menu which automatically played one after the other. There was a brief pause during each transition, but it was equal to about one beat of silence in the song, so it sounded OK.
However, the pause would be noticable otherwise, in a song that doesn't stop, so I was wondering if there was any way to reprogram this arbitrary limitation.
