Preview Window Size Options
I am new to VideoStudio (10+) and I have been reading lots of posts here on performance issues. I am happy to report that my system is doing much better having followed the tuning device suggestions found here. I have found however that I still pick up up drop frames during a cature session (about one a second), if I keep the main application window maximized. I have a 24 inch 1920 x 1200 monitor, so the preview window is quite large. If I minimize my window immediately after starting a capture, I get a few dropped frames at the begining and end of a session, but essentially none while the capture is running and the window is minimized. I believe rendering the preview pane is causing the dropped frames. My frustration is that I don't seem to have any controls in the program to address this problem. I can't resize the main screen or resize the preview window to a small size to preserve resources. Am I missing something or am I dealing with a design limitation of the program?

This seems to have more to do with your capture properties, then your screen resolution.
1. The Board has the provision in your Profile, to list information about your system. Then all we need to do is click on the System button, located at the bottom of your post, beside the email, profile and pm buttons, to see your system specs. Please go to your profile and complete the system information.
2. How are you capturing your video, and to what format? Are you capturing using a Firewire, or capture card? Are you capturing to DV-avi Type 1 or DV-avi Type 2, or MPEG-2? If you are capturing to DV-avi Type 2, change it to DV-avi Type-1.
Dropped frames are not acceptible.

Okaydoke. I've posted my system profile and I think you will agree that it is more than adequate. What I haven't mentioned is what I am trying to capture video from, and here the gear is really lightweight. I am using a webcam. Now it is a state of the art webcam (logitech Ultra) and it will capture 960 x 720. It is not a firewire device. All that said, Ulead does a nice job capturing from it, and the video quality is surprisingly good.
I realize I am up against the questionable driver quality provided by Logitech, and that USB 2.0 is a smaller pipe than firewire, still I can get essentially no frame drops when the main window is minimized. I don't seem to have access to the AVI Type 1 vs Type 2 control.
