The differences are major...
MSP8 is a prosumer application. It is designed more for the serious hobbiest, or professional, is more difficult to learn, allows a tremendous degree of control and flexibilty over your workflow. It has the ability to use image and video mattes, chroma-key, Luma-key, color-key, up to 99 audio and video tracks, virtual timelines, motion paths... just to name a few.

VS10 + is designed for the family environment. Those people that just want to put their home videos taken with their camcorders onto DVDs. Yet it has the ability to make those into treasured masterpieces. It is very easy to learn and use. It utilizes the Step Method to take you from Capture, to creating your DVD. It does have some nice features like 6 overlay tracks, chroma-key, masks, 5.1 dolby audio, HD support..

Now having said all that, which is best? The question is Which is best for you?. You can only answer that question. I have no way of knowing your system capabilties, your level of video editing expertise or understanding, or what you are willing to put forth to learn, and your budget. So download a trial version of each and decide. Yes they will both reside happily on your system. I have 5 NLE's installed currently, and don't have any problems...

So which is best for you....???
