When I tried to play back the title I created, without burning it, it was all pixelated. When I firts put in the titles, it looked great. If I have this on the computer, will it look like this on a DVD?
Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay, welcome to the forums..
Understand that playback Preview is a very rough estimation of your project. It is trying to put everything together on the fly.
What you can do is go to File menu, Preferences and change the Playback Method, from Instant Playback to High Quality. VS will then do a render, using Smart Render, to render your project or the Playback Range that you have selected. This will be more accurate. However High Quality playback does not work for DVD-MPEG2 project properties.

The setting depends on your video file properties, which has to do with how you captured, and from what source. If you are capturing (actually transferring) clips from your digital camcorder via firewire, then your clip format would be DV, also known as DV-AVI. So your project properties should match, ie; MS-AVI, which is DV. If you are capturing from an anologue source, such as a VCR then unless your device, TV tuner capture card allows it, you will probably be restricted to an MPEG format. This should be MPEG-2, DVD compatible.
Your video clips properties are the key to setting your project properties. For DVDs the format/settings will have to be a DVD-compatible MPEG2. However if you can and do capture to DV, then this does not come into play until you have done all your editing. Then you create a video file from your project, by going to Share>Create Video File, and using DVD (NTSC or PAL depending on where you live).
You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial.

The bolded text in my previous post is a hyper-link to a tutorial. Steve done an outstanding job putting that together. He walks you through from start to finish. Once you have completed that, you should find several of your questions answered. Since it seems like you are just starting out on this wonderful adventure of video editing, it would take several pages (which Steve has already prepared) to explain it so you would understand and be able to be successful. Once you are able to do this a couple of times, you will find that you don't have enough time in a day to do all the editing you would like..
