Which DVD format has the most compatibility with the various DVD players out there: DVD+R or DVD-R?

A couple of years ago, when DVD players were rather fussy, DVD-Rs were supposed to be more universally accepted.

With today's C$ 25 DVD players, I don't think it matters that much.

Thgis summer, I burned about 50 Anniversary DVD-Rs of our rubgy club's glorious past. Unlike previous massed burnings, no one complained this time around.

My son, who works for Microsoft and is a real techie, sent me this link shortly after I posted the question: http://www.topchoicereviews.com/dvd-copy-software/dvd-media-explained.htm. So, you are right, it's pretty much a tossup.

The link is broken, I just get the 404 error, or is that what we are suppose to see. Seems like a typical Micro$oft solution...:)

Here's a copy and paste of the link I sent before titled "DVD Copy Software Reviews 2006":

DVD-R and DVD-RW:
The -R format is older than the +R format, therefore more DVD players are compatible with the -R format. A DVD-R can be written to once and is compatible with about 90% of DVD players on the market. A DVD-RW disk can be written to 1,000 times and is compatible with about 70% of DVD players on the market.

DVD+R and DVD+RW:
The +R format is newer than the -R format. Access time is a bit faster, however fewer DVD players are compatible with the +R format. A DVD+R can be written to once and is compatible with about 80% of DVD players on the market. A DVD+RW disk can be written to 1,000 times and is compatible with about 70% of DVD players on the market.

The link has the period [.] at the end. Remove that and it works fine.
