VS10 DVD Authoring problems

Post by topsham »

I am creating a new DVD with VS DVD Authoring tool, using a MPEG2 file which has been created with VS10. I create the menus fine and added music etc and all works fine and the DVD is now created. However, when I play the DVD back on a TV and also on the PC, some of the video jerks. It carries on no problem but throughout the whole movie I get this problem. The video just stops for a split second and then carries on.

I have checked the orginal MPEG2 movie and this is fine. No stops at all. I have rebooted my PC and made sure that nothing else is running when I create the DVD. I have the recommended pagefile set. I never used to have this problem using version 9 so at a loss as to what is happening here. I have now tried 4 DVDs and its the same on all of them. Just the jerks in video are in different places.

Windows XP Pro SP2
1GB memory
35 GB free hard disk space
Dell P4 3.0
128mb Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card

I tried VS10 with service pack 1 and without service pack 1 as well.

Can anybody help here as I have a perfect MPEG2 file and I just want to get it onto a DVD. :D

Prefrences-
VCD player compliant - ticked
Anti-flicker filter - ticked
Resume all confirmation dialog boxes - unticked
TV system - PAL/SECAM
Max 30MB menus - ticked

Advanced-
NTSC/PAL safe color - ticked

Project settings
Same as project settings for file conversion

On the final burn screen the only option that is ticked is the Create to disc. I have even turned off normalise audio.

Hope that helps.

And your burn properties?

Are you following the Recommended Procedure?

Read the instructions

Have gone through the Recommended Procedure and I now see where I have gone wrong. I was saving the MPEG with MPEG settings instead of PAL DVD settings. Have followed instructions and the DVD has created perfectly now. Excellent quality.

Thanks for the advice.
