mono only

Post by sigun »

hi

i have only just started using dvdws and have done a few tests, with the an audio problem. when i play on a laptop the audio is all mono only. I impor the audio file into the track tabs as directed.

what could be the problem? does it matter whether i import the wave file or the quicktime movie file as audio?

thanks

If the input file is mono, then this is normal. There are three ways of having mono: Both channels identical, L channel, R channel only. If your original source was an old analogue camera, there is every chance you will have L channel only. Cure: take the audio into Audacity (open-source free software) or equivalent. which has the tools for converting 1 channel mono to 2 channels.

MSP8 also has audio filters for converting.

so im importing from avid and when I do a audio mixdown, I choose mono usually but that comes out as one track playing stereo.

what if i choose stereo when doing the audio mixdown?

Why not try it. I don't know what Avid does.
