mpeg vio driver error

Post by suds10 »

I'm a newbie, so please be gentle.
I am using Moviefactory 3.0 SE and as I start the programme I get the error "load mpeg vio driver'". I have researched the forms, and tried all of the suggestions that I felt were pertinent...no luck...I have uninstalled completely and reloaded.
The string that comes with the error is :
C:\programme files\ulead systems\ulead moviefactory 3\dvdmf.ini
MY QUESTION IS ....When I open dvdmf.ini with notepad, what should the settings be??

Check the MPEG VIO Update Pack to see if the issue can be fixed:

http://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/Share/PatchForMpeg.exe

I think you are using Windows 98 (or Windows ME) ?

Hope this helps.

Thank you Steve J ......I copied the "mpeg" file as you sugested to my main Moviefactory folder.....same error condition.
Thank you H> T>......I downloaded the patch "fixenvironment.exe" (because I am running Windows XP)....Still get the same error condition.
Is it possible to give me what the standard settings should be in the "dvdmf.ini" file.
String is [C:\programme file\ulead systems\ulead mf3\dvdmf.ini]. I am wondering if for some reason one of the settings in there is wrong.
Thank YOU

If you are running Windows XP, then it's a little strange to see dvdmf.ini to be appeared in [C:\programme file\ulead systems\ulead mf3\] because DVDMF will not save that .ini file in that location on Windows XP.

And if you are running Windows 98/ME, dvdmf.ini will also not be saved into that location but will be saved in C:\Windows.

Your install is corrupted, that's for sure. And add the settings back to DVDMF.ini might not solve the issue.

Have you tried the steps in http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 5773#55773 ?

I am definitely running XP.... I have just previously uninstalled everything prior to my first post, and I will certainly do it again, but before I do so.......I apolgise for an error I made in the (error String). It should have read:
C:\Programme files\ulead systems\ulead mf3\ulead.dat
Would that error make a difference in your answer? I have tried to delete the dvdmf.ini file in the "ulead.dat" folder. It appears in my cache but yet it is still in the original folder. When I check the "ulead.dat" folder under WINDOWS it is commpletely empty. Could I drag and drop the "dvdmf.ini" file into the spot where it is supposed to be? I will wait for your reply before doing a complete uninstall.
Thank YOU

It looks like you've overlooked an important detail in the instructions, or maybe you have a confused Windows environment:

MF installs into different folders for different components.

MPEG is a *folder* in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\
This is not the main program folder you chose when you installed.
This is the folder shared by all Ulead products.
Thank you Steve J ......I copied the "mpeg" file as you sugested to my main Moviefactory folder
Not just an "MPEG" file (!) He suggested to copy all the files in the "Common Files" MPEG folder into the program folder (as a workaround for a corrupt PATH setting in your Windows environment).
If you copied the MPEG folder into your program folder, then you now have an MPEG folder in there that Ulead will not be looking in.

The folder you chose for installation is strange, by the way. Normally (for English) it would contain "Program Files", not "Programme Files" which is a mixture between German and English.
Maybe you also have a strange location for "Common Files", like "...\Programme Files\Common Files\" which is not searched when looking for Ulead's MPEG folder?!

Open a command prompt, type in "set" (without the quotes) to check your PATH setting. Maybe yours is pointing to the wrong places as far as Ulead is concerned.

The standard path for Ulead's Common Files (shared by all programs) is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems
which contains folders like MPEG for the various items.
You cannot choose it or change it (except advanced users).

A path for the program installation (you can choose elsewhere, but use the same path if you reinstall the program!):
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3

Thank you Henry....I apologize for my spelling and typing errors.....
As far as copying the "mpeg folder" I did copy all files from.....
C:\PROGRAM Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
I just forgot to type in the "s" in my reply. It was copied to.....
C:\Progam Files\Ulead Systems\ulead DVDMovieFactory 3....It is very possible that I still have not followed the instructions properly. Please indicated to me if what I have done so far is correct. When I installed the program originally I did not make any changes in the path, I accepted what the program suggested.
