Problem with the TbYB version of PI 12

Post by Romara »

I just installed the Try before you buy version of Photo Impact 12,
but I really don't know, how to get an activation code. I did not buy anything yet, but I have the free software, which I already have seen when it was installed somewhere.
When I saw it the first time, there was no activation code, it was just activated so you could start immediatly!
I received an e-mail, where I found a "Coupon Code", but this was obviously not my activation code. So where can I get these activation code?

Kind regards,
Romara

The TBYB version, AFAIK, does not need an activation code. It will work for a preset period of time, not sure what that is in this case, 15 or 30 days, and stop working after that has expired.

If you want to keep using the program after that you will need to buy it. If you decide to buy it make sure you completely uninstall the TBYB version before you install the full version. Do not just activate the TBYB with the code you will receive because this approach has caused a lot of grief to many users.

Thank you, Heinz.

I just was confused, because I never received an activation code ever and I have never heard about one that will be sent to me after the installation.

This is what I did, now I am having problems, what can I do?

First thing I will do is to turn this into a new thread. That way other people may benefit from this as well.
The new thread can be found here: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 2009#92009

You never did receive an activation code because, AFAIK, you have not bought the program yet. There are different ways of activating software. Either the downloaded installer already has the activation code or serial number embedded in it or you will be supplied the code to enter when you purchase the downloadable version and are supplied the link from where you can download.

The boxed versions you can buy in the stores require you to input the serial number printed on the packaging at the time of installation.

Unfortunately, with TBYB versions, you have the opportunity to enter your serial number you get when you purchase the full version into this trial version. That will then let the trial version run after the trial period is over. There have been a number of users of different Ulead programs who did just that and had nothing but problems after.

The advice is: If you have used a trial (TBYB) version and decided to buy the ESD (download) or the boxed full version of that program, DO NOT, I repeat, do not activate this trial version with your serial number of the version you purchased.

It's best practice to completely remove the trial version (uninstall via the WIN control panel) and do a fresh install of the purchased full version.
