Crash capturing DVD - Failed to initialize VIO VIDDATA

Post by hucker »

Videostudio 9 SE - trying to capture a DVD (it's recorded off Sky+ using a home DVD recorder). I get the error:

---------------------------
Import DVD
---------------------------
Failed to initialize VIO VIDDATA in the import DVD preview module.

First you need to be aware the your version VS9SE is not a full version. There are some restrictions to it, and I'm not sure what they may be. Importing a DVD may be one of them, depending on the vendor that bundled the software with their hardware.

Could you post the steps you are going through to capture the DVD? You should be using the Insert DVD/DVD-VR.

Capture tab, Import from DVD/DVD-VR, select the DVD drive (D:), click ok.

It reads the disk for several seconds, then presents me with a dialog box with a tree on the left panel. The disk is at the top labelled "Sonata Volume", under that is "title2", under that is "chapter 0, chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3, chapter 4".

Clicking on the words "title 2", or ticking the box beside it, gives the error I mentioned in the original post. Followed by the Microsoft crash report message:

AppName: vstudio.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.0 ModName: uimportdvdui.dll
ModVer: 4.0.0.0 Offset: 00001add

The rest is not highlightable to copy and is mostly a memory dump.
