Volume Change ULEAD VS 10

Post by nickwalnut »

Is there any way to change the volume of a music clip mid-way while it's playing? I need to do this as some of my film needs sound, and some doesn't, and if it needs sound it's being drowned out by the music.

Hi nickwalnut,

Yes you can. Click on the Audio Step at the top of the editor. Click on the audio clip on the audio track of the timeline to highlight it. You should now see a horizontal line at the midway point of the audio clip. This is called the "rubber band". At the point in the timeline where you want to reduce the volume, move your mouse cursor arrow over the horizontal line (rubber band), click it and you will see a small rectangular box placed on the rubber band. This is called a "keyframe". Now to the right of that keyframe, create another keyframe. Now click and drag the second keyframe downwards to reduce the volume level. If you drag it all the way down, you will essentially mute this portion of the audio clip. You will need to experiement with how far down you drag the keyframe to the amount of sound reduction you want. The horizontal distance between the two keyframes will determine how fast the volume reduces. Repeat these steps at the end of the sound reduction, again creating two keyframes.
Cheers,

Bryan P.
