A quick answer to get you started is to click on the Title Step button on the top row of the application. Then click on the clip in the timeline for which you would like to add text to. Then double click in the Preview Window, which opens up a dashed outline box, then begin typing your text. Over toward the right is the Options Panel, where you can adjust many characteristics about your text. Click on the Attributes tab of the Control Panel and you can even animate your text.

:) :)
