Capture Format for DV? MPEG2 or DV?

What format should I be capturing DV format? Read posts that recommended MPEG2 but the DV format is also available and seems like the logical choice.

Appreciate any input. Capturing DV off a DV tape in an HC3.

Is your video clip in your HC3 Standard Def or High Def? If it is just SD, then I would recommend capturing to DV. If not then I think J.C. has some guidelines, recommended procedure for this..

Thanks, vidoman. This is footage that was shot on my mom's standard DV camera on a tape I've had sitting around for a while. Now that I have VS and my HC3 I'm capturing this. Will capture in DV.
