Activation Question

Post by frank-l »

I have downloaded the trial version for evaluation and purchase decision. My intention is to run Video Studio on a non-internet computer in order to avoid the CPU load of security software, and also to be able to use the system in my RV when I am on the road. Can I purchase and activate Video Studio without having the host computer online?

Being new to the digital video scene I am also confused by various statements about purchasing codecs. Does this mean I need to purchase additional plugins to have the Input/Output file formats listed in the Features and Benefits flyer?

Hi Frank, welcome to the forums,

It is recommended to not activate a trial version. There have been problems with installing the Service Packs (SP-1). The SPs tend to see them as just being TBYB(Try Before You Buy) which do not qualify for SPs.

When you purchase, download the full version. Do a complete un-install of your trial version. Then install your purchased full version, followed by the Extra Content and SP.

You do not need to be connected to the internet, as it does not use an internet activation method. Ulead attempted this when they released MediaStudio Pro 8. Numerous long time users raised objections, since they do not run their video applications on PCs that have internet access. So they removed that.

You should not have to purchase any codecs. VS10 + comes with most of the codecs you will need. If you are wanting to create videos for cellphones you would need to purchase the 3GPP plug-in.
