Using older template is version 5

Post by The Old Timer »

Since moving to Version 5 that there seems to be fewer templates, backgrounds etc available than there were in version 4. Can this data from easier versions be used in 5?

Can you create your own custom templates & if so how is that done?

Copying templates from UDMF4 to 5

Post by JaySigel »

While you can copy the templates from their locations in UDMF4 to 5, save your work first, because if you attempt to edit those templated in UDMF5, it will crash UDMF5 and you will lose everything. See my posting comparing 4 to 5.

AFAIK old templates do work if you tediously merge the contents with the MF5 contents (buttons, frames, templates, layout), keeping the newer versions of "identical" items... but some of the old layout files (La*) will crash MF5 and need to be deleted.

But you can start a simple test project and choose every layout... if it crashes when you click on it delete it and try again until the collection is "clean".

And after you've successfully sorted and merged the buttons, frames, templates and layouts from the various programs and versions... a backup would be a good idea.
