How can I get the output of MF5+ to be AC3 that is "3/2" not "3/0".
3/2 is 5.1 audio.
3/0 plays with 3 front channels while either rear channel goes into both rear channels.
My imported audio (ADDED to HDV video with NO audio) is AC3 "3/2" and really is 5.1.
By the way, it seems to take no time to export either audio or video so it doesn't seem my 5.1 is being converted. Perhaps only header information is being set wrong?
There is an Audio Setting box that lets one select Dolby Digital at up to 448Mbps. But, I can't select "5.1" because this box is grayed-out!
Or, does MF5+ simply not support 5.1 even when 5.1 has been imported project?
Has anyone burned a DVD that is 5.1 and their receiver show DD -- not simply ProLogic II?
Can't get AC3 5.1 output
Since nobody seems to have the answer, I'll take a guess at something you can try:
If you haven't done so already, try checking the box under Project Settings that says Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG Files.

Steve,
Check the 2nd half of this thread:

My Dolby 5.1 test audio from a professional source (and checked to make sure it was in fact 5.1) was also "adjusted" to stereo by MF5, with no delay. So no real conversion was being done but the result only had 2 channels (stereo).
maddrummer tested 5.1 audio created with Nero7 and it was passed through unchanged (5.1 on the DVD).
This seems to indicate a bug in the MF5 parser with something or a flag inside the 5.1 file, like depending on what software created it.
If this is true, MF5 will pass through 5.1 created with their MSP7 or VS10+ but possibly not from another source.
So if your audio is in fact 5.1 and was not produced with Nero7 or Ulead software, that would another indication of a bug in the Ulead parser.

[quote="maddrummer3301"]The only method I know in MF is to already have the mpeg2 file encoded as a program stream that contains the video & 5.1 audio tracks.
I believe the poster needs to use a separate multi-plexor to create the mpeg2 file as a program stream. Then import that into MF, create chapters, menu system & burn.
MF5 doesn't support 5.1 encoding so it will be converted to 2/0 for multiplexing into a mpeg2 file. Actually it will be converted to whatever the project properties are set to and 5.1 isn't an option.

The 5.1 option is grayed-out which may because I've read Dolby offers a free/cheap stereo license for encoding. But, of course, I'm not encoding so it really shouldn't touch the audio. Do you think it really CONVERTS it or just adds a STEREO header?
I'll try MPEGstreamclip to create a PS from an HDV and AC3 file. Any other suggetions?

MD is correct. To burn DVDs with 5.1 audio in DVDMF, you need to encode the MPEG2 file in 5.1 audio first and you cannot edit the MPEG2 file in DVDMF. And the project settings in DVDMF must match the properties of the MPEG2 file so the Smart Rendering feature will be activated to pass-through the 5.1 audio.
Hope this helps.
