More templates? Where? How?

Post by starbase1 »

I have got v10 of the Video Studio, and I really like the improvements - in particular I like the new menu templates very much, (the smart ones). Much more professional than the old ones - I particularly like seeing an short animated clip of the highlighted video.

But there really are too few there. Is it possible to download or buy any additional smart templates?

I would particularly like to have more videos on each page of the menus, as three is not really enough for what I want...

You need to explore a little more. The full or upgrade version of 10+ comes with a dozen or more menu templates, several of which offer up to nine chapters per page. And you can customize them and save them, as well. The TBYB download version only has a few templates included.

I could only spot a few smart templates, and those had 3 each, unless I am missing something obvious - and I bought the boxed version.

Well, considering that you're using the UK version and I am using the US version, maybe someone else should be helping you. Sorry. :(

There is no difference between the content of the British and US versions.
If you have any other Ulead products on your computer you can use Menus transitions and so on from your other products.

MF5/ VS9 /VS10: Share Menus, Transitions between products

If you have PhotoImpact you can make your own DVD Menus
(Not SmartMenus) Tutorial: PhotoImpact: Creating DVD Menu from scratch

Do you have the FULL version and have you downloaded all of the extra content?

Thanks - I think I have the full version, (I bought it in a box at PC World, complete with manual etc, version 10), but I don't yet have any downloaded extra content.

This sounds like what I need!

Can you point me at where to collect it please?

Sorry. But if you have the boxed version, that is all you get -- it already contains the full package. The 'extra content' download is the second of 3 large files which comprise the download version of VS10, and all three together make up what you already have in the boxed version. (The first file is the main program files; the extra content contains most of the templates, masks, videos, still pictures etc); and the third is the bonus pack, which includes Cool 3D and I think also the InterVideo DVD software player.)

I bought the download only upgrade of VS10+ and don't see the "dozen or so menu templates" you mention. How can I check to see if my version has them?

TBYB=Try Before You Buy. This is the trial version you download from the Ulead website. In order to streamline downloading, it does not include much of the extra content you get when buying a boxed version in the store or from Ulead. If you bought a download version from Ulead, you get limited content unless you also download the nearly 300mb content file. The program file itself is just the basics needed to run VS 10+.
