I videotaped a piano solo the other day with my Sony HC1 in hi-def. The original hi-def file has nice clean audio. When I down convert to DVD best quality using VS there are 'pops' in the audio. They are not very loud but once you notice them, it's all you hear.
Any thoughts?

I suffered similar results when I rendered to Dolby @ 256 kpbs. Lowering that to 224 kpbs has seemed to fix it.

Still no luck
Today is my last day of the VS 10 plus trial. I hope I can fix this problem.
My source file is an MPEG DVD file that is about 45 minutes long. I clip out a small section of it, say, 30 seconds long and 'share' it keeping the same settings as the project file and I get 'pops' in the audio. They are very noticeable.
I tried changing the audio bitrate with no luck.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I'd like to buy this software but not if it introduces pops in the audio.

Peter,
Downconverted HDV audio does not "pop" as a rule. I use the following properties:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 9800 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
See HD Tutorial at http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=13872
BTW, this could also be an artifact of the playback software. What are you using to play?

I guess the changing of the bit rate was just a fluke, as I still sometimes get pops when using Dolby. The only way I was able to remedy the situation was by changing to LPCM. The project was only 12 minutes so the size of the file was not an issue.

Hi Peter,
Maybe you can take the content to someone who owns VS 10 with Service Pack 1 to see if it will happen in VS 10 SP1. Ulead has released SP1 for VS 10 to fix some problems.

Hope this helps.
