All my videos have been captured in 4.3 as my camera is quite old (JVC GR-DVL9000).
These are the project properties:
PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps 4:3
Lower Field First
Uncompressed
PCM, 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo.
As my new TV is a widescreen - I would like to make my DVDs play across the whole screen (with the black bands at the top & bottom).
Is it just a matter of changing the display aspect ratio in the Make Movie Manager template from 4:3 to 16:9 to achieve this? At the moment the template looks like this:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 160 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R).
Or will changing to 16:9 just squash everything?
Thanks for your help

Hi
and welcome to the forum
You are best to retain the same properties for the 16:9 as 4:3
Have a read at ¡¦16:9 a look at widescreen¡¦ from the link below.
The description uses the overlay track, with later VS versions this can be achieved using the main timeline and the ¡¥distort¡¦ feature.
