which product is the right one
I am looking to purchase one of the ulead products but do not know which would be best. I am looking to do simple projects, picture slideshows and video capture and editing to burn to disc for tv viewing. I do not need fancy, I am fairly new at this so I need it simple. Any suggestions out there? Thanks for any advice.

Since you are wanting to capture and edit video, and create DVDs of video and slideshows, I would say VideoStudio 10, not VideoStudio 10 Plus. VS10 is the less expensive, version. It is simple to use, and you can create slideshows as well as capture and edit video. http://www.ulead.com/vs/features.htm
If you were more interested in creating slideshows and putting them onto CD or DVD, I would have suggested CD/DVD Pictureshow. http://www.ulead.com/dps/runme.htm

You have 4 choices.
CD & DVD Picture show
This one is perhaps the easiest and enables you to create slideshows or Videos and place them onto DVD. It is mostly wizard driven.
DVD MovieFactory
An alternative to the above, this one includes some limited editing abilities. This one also handles the new BlueRay / HD video formats.
It also sports "Smartscene" style menus and many pre-designed DVD Menu Templates.
VideoStudio
Perhaps Uleads best selling product. This item allows you to edit your video. It is a bit like having an old fashioned piece of film and cutting it up with a pair of scissors, throwing away the unwanted portions and joining it all back together again. At these joints you can have 'straight cuts' or a choice of several hundred transitions like crossfades, wipes, spiral effects and so on. You can also Add text to the video in the form of titles and end credits. It also enables you to create a Menu Driven DVD with many pre-designed DVD Menu Templates.
MediaStudio
This is one of Uleads most expensive products. It is like VideoStudio - above - but much more powerful. With this extra power it is also much more complex to use and is aimed at the professional or serious hobbyist.

The reason I am asking is that my inlaws are getting a new computer and between all of us we are all getting the same products so we are able to help each other out. Need simple all in one products. My sister inlaw and I both already have picture show and photo explorer. Would like not to have to purchase anything else.

Firstly please Complete your system specifications Then I would know if you have Windows XP.
Then I would know that you have windows Movie Maker.
And then I could advise you to capture your video with Windows Movie Maker and then use CD & DVD PS 4 to create your DVD Masterpiece.

You have Windows XP Home Edition and so you will have a copy of
Windows Movie Maker 2.0 - it's a part of the XP system.
You can get your video onto your computers hard drive using Movie Maker - I recommend you do so with a firewire cable (IEEE1394).
This will save you the expense of purchasing any extra software.
You can then create your DVD with CD & DVD Picture show 4.
