Does your project contain a menu?
I got this message when I had Auto Fade Out First Play To Menu checked in the Burn stage project properties. Unchecking that one item allowed me to burn successfully.
Seems that error message is sometimes caused by conflicts within the menu creation process. I doubt that the Auto Fade Out... was entirely the problem, but was conflicting with something else I had going on in the menu. Point is, you may have to play around with different settings until you find the culprit. Ultimately that is what I did - started from scratch with a short, simple project with no bells and whistles and it burned. I then added things until I found out what caused my problem.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Very fustrating all this editing business..one problem after another it seems!!
My past projects, which all burned no probs, no ALL come up with that error message.
Now, i have been messing about a lot recently, with downloading VS10 and MediaStudio ( have just recently delted them both..trial versions..gives me a headache...thought i would just stick with what i know for the time being )
Also, downloaded trial version of Photoimpact ( all through recommodations via this board...and impressive it is too )...ive brought in to vs9 a little title, which again all works fine until comes to burn and that message...NOW, if it were just this project effected..then fine...BUT as it effects all of my projects..anything even one clip...obviously theres a bigger issue.
Ive tried 'repairing' vs9, updating the registry, installing the disk..have yet to actually delete vs9 and properly reinstall...reluctant because theres a few long projects i really dont want to lose and have attached to vs9.
SO, anyone out there know what does that error message actually mean?

Did VS9 work properly before installing the VS10, MSP, and PI trials?

Appologies, to answer your first question. No..no menu was set...just quickly clicked on through all that.
Yes my vs9 worked fine before..now, after ive installed and deleted ( after given up trying to learn 2 new systems..like i say, sticking to vs 9 for now )..so, since ive deleted them, come back to vs9 and now cant seem to burn..all else seems fine thou, playing and editing wise.
Still trying to burn even one clip..and comes up with that message..so nothing to do with fade in's or menus etc..
IF i have to reinstall vs9 - how can i save whatever files are on vs9 at the moment..i remember some time back on an older machine of mine, reinstalling and seemed whatever i was working on before i deleted vs9 has been lost..never to be found again..somewhere on my harddrive no doubt! Dont want that happening again.

Some people using VS9 had the problem -- and more precisely the 4101 message -- after applying the update patch to VS9. They had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall and not apply the patch to cure the problem. I don't know, though, whether this is applicable to your particular set-up.
It could also be that installing, then uninstallaing, the trial version of VS10 might have affected some data file which VS9 also uses... This certainly happened when people were using VS8 and then installed and unistalled the VS9 trial version. In the uninstall process, Windows puts up a warning box saying a particular file is apparently no longer needed -- and asks whether to leave it or delete it. Most people usually deleted it, but it seems they should have left it. For those who had the boxed version of VS8, they could use the Repair function. Otherwise, they had to do a complete reinstall of VS8. Maybe a similar thing occurs between VS9 and 10...?

Just what I was getting to Ken, but you beat me to it.
As far as losing your files, just make sure your clips, as well as your vsp files (project files), are not in a Ulead folder (I don't remember if VS puts these into a default folder, as I have been using my own custom folders for quite some time.). Then, after you reinstall, you can choose Open Project and point to where your vsp is on your system.

So thats the way to go then...reinstall...
To make sure i can save all my clips..could you tell me again...by default all the clips i use are on the main menu screen...call me lazy..or that at the time of capturing i just assumed vs9 knew what it was doing so i let it do it....SO, must i copy and paste these clips elsewhere ?
cheers again for your replies.

Those thumbnails in your library (on the main menu screen, as you say) are just pointers to your clips somewhere else on you HD. The place on your HD where your clips are captured to are specified on the Capture tab under Capture Folder.
