Hi there
Came across your posting. I have been using Videostudio from V6 and V8 and they have both had this problem. I think its one of those 'undocumented features'. I remember posting a similar question several years ago and got no reply. It seems to happen no matter what video you import into VS and its bloody annoying. It has actually occurred on every single video file I have ever used in VS.
All I can suggest is applying the brightness filter at around 10% for the whole project. That works most of the time for me although I have had to ramp it up to 25% for the odd scene.
Alternatively go Quicktime Pro or (dare I say) Pinnacle
Don't know about your red problem though, could be your monitor if its an old CRT type. Or if you are recording under Tungsten light bulbs you will get a red/orange cast.
All the best

I mean it's Just darker when I play it on my PC I didn't burn it or play it on any TV it's just with my TFT
and I mean it's look darker with little bit red or maybe if I just make my clips darker it will look like darker with red color
just forget the red part if it is confusing you
my clip get darker when I play while I edit it and after I export it
when I do not play it it's just normal light and nice image (inside VS) !!!!
Thanks again for your replay

Dark video on playback
I am having the same problem as a lot of others.
When you playback a clip no problem, but when you playback the project it goes very dark. I did not have this problem in VS 9.
There must be a reason.

What is your setting under File>Preferences>General tab>Instant Playback Target? If I set mine to Dual Head Device playback does become slightly darker.

i was just searching for issues regarding dark video here and found this thread. after trying this and numerous other things - the fix for me was simple. i went to the web site for my video card and updated the drivers. everything is working great now. i am posting this note in the event that it helps someone else down the road.
