You can Create a Cross-Fade Transition Effect using VS10 Plus for your video clips on the overlay tracks... Ha, Ha, you're saying???

Well look at this...

That's true. So using that same principle you could, in fact, also do a fade to black.

Good to know. 8)

Muy excellente, Ron!!!!

I've always said that this program was much better than people give it credit for. All it takes is thinking "outside the box" (like you just did) in order to create workarounds for the program's design limitations.

Once again, excellent job Ron. This will eliminate the need for doing an intermediate render, unless you still want titles to show up in your overlay images, then you would need to do an intermediate render. Maybe, if we think "outside the box" on this one, we can come up with a workaround for this, too.

:D

Brilliant, vidoman! Sometimes the simple things get overlooked as we search for more complex answers.

Not exactly the same subject, but I often play with adjacent clips and video filters.
If you split the clip to apply the filters on the last resp. first one or two seconds of the clip (using intermediate key frame would achieve the same but is longer to render because the filter is applied to the whole clip.)

Crop filter from 100 to 0, followed by a clip with crop from 0 to 100 or that alone is similar to Box Stretch for instance, or also a Zoom-in 100 to 300 followed by a zoom-out 300 to 100 makes a Cross-Zoom transition effect. Of course the filter usually has to be associated to a chroma key on pure black.
