Installation for high performance - which drive is best?

Post by maxfrost01 »

I'm about to re-install VS10+ after a second hard drive crash in less than six months
I have a C drive (SATA 250GB) and an F drive (2 x 150GB Raptors RAID array). Which one should I load the programme onto?
In the past I've put it on the C drive but then I got to thinking.......if the programme is on the C drive, how does the computer know to use the Raptors to do the hard work (rendering and burning DVDs)? I know these machines are clever little devils but are they that smart?
I'm editing High Def video so I need all the power I can get!

I've just started to capture my kids Videos on a brand new whizzy machine and all I do is set the path for the project to the second disk i.e. for you the Raptor RAID array.
The programme should run off of the C: drive but save everything to the F: and therefore render and burn using the F:
I could be talking utter Cr*p here but give it a test try.

... And you can set your working folder to the F:\ drive (File > Preferences > General > Working Folder). Make sure you also insert the same path into the Preferences in the first icon of the burning page. They are independent of each other i.e changing one does not automatically change the other.
