HELP !! :) video on dvd not smooth, jerky

Post by Mickeire »

When i capture from my camcorder and put the avi's in the timeline then create the dvd the resulting video on the dvd is jerky, looks like it's running at a low frame count or something. video files themselves are perfect and all settings are 25fps PAL. makes it difficult to watch. audio and everything else is fine on dvd.
Videostudio 10+, 3.0GhzP4HT,loads of HD space ! :(

HELP !

Hi

Welcome to the forum

For top quality you should capture to DV-Avi via Firewire.

How are you capturing/connecting your cam-corder.
What capture settings are you using?

After capture a clip is placed in the timeline, right click select properties, what are they?

Read the recommended procedure from the top post
Read my quick guide to Dv-Avi from the link below

You may want to try recapturing your video from your camcoder and switch the frame order. Depending on the tool you have used to capture your video, look for the option "field order" an switch it from lower to upper, fieldA to FieldB or vis a versa depending of your current setting.

Thanks for the quick replys lad's,
Im capturing via firewire to avi 0 frames dropped and the resulting avi files are perfect when played back.
What i done was captured the video which was fine then created a avi file from that (which plays back perfectly) then dragged the avi into the timeline and created the dvd from that, THe motion on the dvd is jerky and difficult to watch.
the properties of the video in the timeline are :
file format : microsoft AVI -- openDML
Frame rate : 25FPS
Data rate : 1268.11kbps
compression : dv video encoder type 2

Then you are not following the Recommended Procedure.

What Field Order are you using - File>Project Properties. Generally, from a digital source it would be Lower Field First, from an analog source it would be Upper Field First.

I would go back to square one and follow the Recommended Procedure. In short, that is:
•Start a new project. Make sure your project properties match your clip properties.
•Edit your clips in the timeline.
•Click Share>Create Video file to make a complete avi of your edited clips. Choose Same As Project Settings.
•Place that newly created avi in the timeline. Click Share>Create video file to make a DVD compliant mpeg file. Choose NTSC (or Pal, I don't know where your are) DVD. Make sure the project settings match.
•Start a New Project. With nothing in the timeline click Share>Create Disc. At the top you will see Add Media. The first icon on the left is Add Video Files. Click on it and insert the mpeg file you just made. Make sure the project settings match.
•Burn to a DVD or create DVD folders or an iso image.

Try it this way and let us know what happens.
