I need Help - anyone avail?
I just bought a 3194 firewire pci card. i have an imaging device that needs this connection but can't seem to get it to work and the mfg says that it may be my pci card. So, is there any way to confirm which device is not working properly? (i'm unfortunately btw the two mfgr's). I can see the 3194 connection in device mgr, but i never see "imaging" devices when i power up the unit.

Hi Jay,
Do you mean an IEEE-1394? which is a firewire. The way to tell if your firewire is working, look under My Computer (where all your harddrives, CD/DVD drives are shown). If it is working it should show up there, like another drive.
For example I have a firewire port on my PC, and when I plug my digital camcorder in, it shows another drive, and indicates it is a Sony camcorder.
You shouldn't have to worry about installing drivers, they come and are a part of WinXP. Ok, so are you running WinXP?
Now to help a little more, please elaborate on your imaging device? A crayon is an imaging device, so let us know what type, model of imaging device. I'm thinking it could be a flatbed scanner, digital still camera, camcorder..???
Next do you have the Firewire card firmly inserted. It should snap (not in two) but in to place.
So far I would have to say it could be your firewire pci card, your "imaging device, or your firewire cable... Hard to tell right now.
