Rendering time.

Post by BuZZarD »

I've created a 10 second clip using shiny textures, bevels, fire, smoke and explode effects (they were there so I'd hate to see them not being used :D ).

I set it rendering at full screen PAL and optimum quality (cos I need it to look good).

It began at 22:30 gmt last night and it is now 18:30.
That's 20 hours up to now and it shows 89% complete.
Does it really take this long for a 10 second anim?
Has it crashed? (still showing that core 1 is running and the memory usage on the program fluctuates).

Can I do anything to speed it up?
Can I pause it for a few hours as I REALLY need to use the PC tonight.

I have an AMD 4600 with 2gb ram, geforce 7950gx2 sli card and run sata raid0 on my drives.
If I launch anything remotely graphics intensive, Cool3dps will crash as it doesn't seem to like competing for memory.

! core is sat doing nothing, allowing me to happily type emails and forum posts, but I kinda need the pc for other things.

Wouldn't it be nice if I could have both cores working on the same thing when they are free........

Ron....... You ruined my life :D

I hate to ruin it anymore then I have... but your probably doing worlds better then I. For everything that you have going on in your c3d project, 20 hrs is not uncommon.

I love the program, but absolutely hate the render times..

Sometimes 3D rendering will be time-consumption (it would depends on how complex your 3D project is). Maybe someday we can improve it due to the technology improvement....
