Dvd Playback from DVD Movie Factory 2 SE
After burning a disc with MF I find that my current DVD burner (that MADE the disc) is unable to use the disc for playback (slow and sketchy with pauses sometimes longer than 10 mins) and the Panasonic player that I have tends to have less problems, but some slow downs and drop outs still. Artifacts pop up out of nowhere. And for a side note, (since ac3 audio isn't available) do most DVD players (or the PS2) play lpcm audio (don't want to spend a disc to find out)? I tried playback in my ps2 with no audio and same pausing. The Panasonic reads the mpg format audio just fine.
I have no problem playing DVD's made with lpcm audio on our Panasonic DVD player. As for the pausing problem, make sure your DVD is free of dirt, scratches, fingerprints, etc. They will all cause our player to pause, get artifacts, stop playing, etc. I'm assuming your computer is powerful enough to play DVD's if it can create them. A slow computer could cause playback problems. I tend to think the problem is with the DVD disk.

And, use some brand-named media such as Sony, TDK, Mitsubishi, Philips, Ritek/RiData, Melody, Nanya, or Prodisc to burn.
That means you should find some disc media can be compatible with your burner/player.
Hope this helps.

The media is all memorex/verbatim (could that be the problem?), and when used with dvd Shrink (only works from dvd to dvd not vhs to dvd) the movie playback is fine. As for the player, I just watched lake placid (commercially bought) just fine in this computer. The panasonic plays the lpcm fine as well, but the rest of the playing is not "up to snuff" with dvds.....or even vhs
. As for scratches, this is how it plays the instant after it is done burning as well, so unless the air scratched it on the way to the dvd player I would have to be really clumsy. I do thank you for your answers.

I was told some Memorex 8X media will cause some playing/burning problems, but Memorex 4X media should be OK.
I think you can check the following lists for compatible media.

DVD Writer Compatibility List:
