Bug with text backdrop and fly animation?

Post by JFG »

I would like to get your expert opinion if what I am facing with is a bug in VS 10+ or if I am doing something wrong. Let me explain what I am trying to do in VS10+

In a 2 minutes video, I want to have a rather long text scroll at the bottom of the screen (about 1/3) as an overlay to the main video (the video subject is reading something and I want to have the text scroll at the bottom of the screen while seeing the narrator on the top 2/3 of the screen. This is what I have done:

1) I use the multiple title option and select text backdrop with a solid color.
2) I go the animation tab, select apply animation with the Fly animation
3) I set the start and end unit to text
4) I select the text to enter from bottom center and exit from top center
5) I position the text frame to overlay the bottom third of the screen

I get the desired result except that the begin of the text start to show after 3 or 4 sec from the beginning of the video/text clip.

After doing a quick test it appear to me that the delay is about the amount time the text would have taken to get to the top 1/3 of the screen assuming that my text frame was covering the entire screen. So it looks like VS does not take into considerations that the text should start to be visible immediately from the bottom of the screen when the top of a text frame is positioned lower then the top of the screen.

Can someone confirm that you can reproduce the problem and that I am not missing anything?

Thanks

JF
