Cannot Edit Quicktime Video

When I import a QuickTime video into Ulead, it imports just fine, and if I just hit play, I can watch the whole thing. If I press pause and then try to resume playing, the video shows the very first frame of the video, and I can hear the audio and watch the progress along the timeline, but the video never catches up. And if I pause it again, the video will remain on the first frame, even though the time might be well past that.

I¡¦ve tried cutting it to just a few seconds and I still experience the same thing, where all I can see is the first frame of video.

I can also watch the whole movie using QuickTime without any issues, pausing it, playing it, and jumping around from beginning to end to middle without any issues.

I thought it might have been the large file, so I attempted to render it first to a .wmv file, then also tried .mpg and .avi. In each case, the final video gave me the full length of the soundtrack, but only the image of the very first frame of video.

I haven¡¦t received any error codes, and when I tried rendering the video, it told me that it had been completed successfully.

The source file is a .mov file and here are all the specs on it:

Size: 720x480
FPS: 29.97
Data Size: 613.81 MB
Duration: 3:08.18.
NTSC

I received the video from a local production house on CD. I copied the file from the CD onto my computer, and am editing it directly from the computer.

I am currently using VideoStudio 9.000.1, OS Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1 Service Pack 2.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be going on here? And how to fix it so that I can edit the video? The project I¡¦m working on is a promo video for my boxing club, and they are excited about getting it finished and onto their website.
