Hi

There are Codec Detectives, software available that scans your pc.
Sherlock and Sniper come to mind.
Be careful if you use them.
I think there is a link on the ¡¥free stuff¡¦ here, scroll down the page.

Thanks for that Trevor.

I ran Sherlock 2 and now more confused about codecs as I seem to have loads listed. There were, however, four that were broken but I only managed to remove two of them. I have left FLV video decoder and the BVRP MPEG-1/2 video decoder but it wont let me see their path.

I spent most of the weekend deleting various other codecs which didn't appear on another machine that could run Videostudio correctly.

And, after all that, the problem still remains!

The only thing that I haven't done yet is to erase media player codes as suggested by muskii as Im not sure which one to delete. Any clues would be appricated.

Hi
To be honest I am getting a little out of my depth here.
I do know that I do not install additional codec packs, not to my knowledge any way.

I have run Sherlock detective on my pc, saving the details as Text file.
I if you wish I can send in e-mail then you can compare another pc.
Whether this will help is debatable.

I would certainly NOT be deleting any codecs directly associated with WMP -- they would have been part of Windows, and definitely would not be part of the problems you have been having...

Just solved this problem.

I think it could be codec or sofware conflict.

In my situation, I uninstall Gom Player then fix it immediately!!

Try to uninstall some video player or video codec(beside media player) maybe can fix your problem too, Good Luck!!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Shawn. We now know that VS and GOM Player do not get along..

A very big thank you shawnchu. When i also removed GOM player it worked!! I can't believe that after all this time someone has actually found the reason for the crash, (and it was so simple!).

Its a shame that they can't work side by side each other because I prefer Gom player because its so simple to use.

Thanks once again.
