I have no idea why its always crashing everytime i click next with the "create menu" selected... if i uncheck "create menu" option it gives me option to preview and burn a dvd. Please help if there is another way. My movies are too long to burn without a menu option.
Regards.
I did not say that Auto Fade Out... was causing your problem. I said that it was the problem in my case. What I said was you may have to experiment with some of the menu options because, as it seems, something there is causing problems. That could be why, when Create Menu is unchecked, it works fine.

You also didn't answer John's question regarding your burn properties. Please answer the questions you are asked if you want us to try and help you.

Yes, i have followed the instructions for setting up my burn properties manually. Its seems to not work still. Thank you for your help.

mecute wrote:Hi, can someone please tell me why vs10 is crashing during creating a disc step?

This is what i normally do to get my vs10 to crash...

complete editing my mpeg2 videos
"Share"
"Create Disc"
Leave the "Create menu" checked
"Next"

I get a crash error:

AppName: vstudio.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.0 ModName: afcachemanager.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 0000a60e

If i leave the "create menu" unchecked it will work fine. However, i would really like to have menu options for my videos.

Thanks advance for your input.

Regards!

the cache files are usually located in your c:\docs&settings\username\local\temp directory. Are you using a administrators account or does your c drive have enough space? You can specify a different working directory for the dvd files, but it will still use the temp directory for the first few 100 Meg. Other things I would check are Virus program running at the same time and if you have xp -- check if DEP protection is on. -- goto my computer->properties->advanced->performance->Data execution prevention. I would either turn this off or check just windows services.

just a guess...
good luck

Hi there, yes i know the properties do not match however, i manually change these settings before creating a video. Also i change the burn properties to exactly match the video properties as well...

Have a look at this helpful post to see if it is of any relevance to your problem? http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 8199#88199

I can render correctly without crashing and the final rendered video looks great, but unfortunately i just can't get the program to burn a dvd with the menu. Thanks.

I have 1gb of ram, Pentium 4 CPU, 3 ghz with 78.7 GB FREE SPACE in my C drive.. I have no virus program running, using admin account, and DEP windows services is turned on only. any ideas?

looks like you got all the bases covered. Only thing I'd try is a complete re-install - bet you've already done that though. did you use the trial then upgrade or the full. I've seen a thread were sp1 didn't take on some trial loads.

maddrummer3301 wrote:This is worth a try, it sounds like your menuing templates are corrupt or something in the following directory may be corrupted.

You can rename this directory (hit the F2 key), then start VS, the files in this directory will be rebuilt similiar to the first time you ran the program.
Then load your saved project into VS.
(Enable Hidden Folders to see the "Application Data" directory).

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10

Just highlight the 10 directory and hit the F2 hit, rename it to 10_Backup (or your choice). Then start VS & load the project.

Worth a try, sometimes I need to rebulid this directory.
Also, VS may not like it your using a mapped home directory across a network or similiar setup.

Hope this helps,
.
thanks for the help but it did not work for me. I also just reinstalled the program and no luck there either. Maybe i should just find a different program that will create menus and burn dvd for me because VS10 creates/edits videos for me no problem... If anyone else have a suggestion please feel free to let me know.

mecute,

has this ever worked? do you go through and add chapters?

if it has never worked have you tried a 4:3 setting just to see if it works?

did you add in the bonus templates from the other downloads? just wondering if the 16:9 templates have a problem.

just fishing for a solution

Edited, Sorry about the post , didn't see we had two pages to the post,
This was a reply to the end of the first page, silly me.

Hi

Although the video properties are Mpeg 2 they are not DVD compliant as far as VS is concerned. When you capture or convert/render a file or project you need to select NTSC-DVD this will produce a compliant file. Although we seem to refer to Mpeg2, for compliant files always select ntsc-dvd. Never select Mpeg2.

(Notice that the auto change to the project properties are not as the video properties)

Quote Ken in an earlier reply (Though it may sound unrelated, you might want to consider a change in your work flow. After editing, do NOT go Share > Create Disc. Instead, go to Share > Create Video File DVD. This will give you a DVD-compliant mpeg-2 file or files)
Dvd being the correct option. This would produce a compatible file.

You could re-render to a new file but it may be best to start a new capture using the correct settings.

Trevor

Ps I am not saying this is your crash problem, just that you are using incorrect settings for your video files.

Hi

Just fishing like frantid

When you say you have re-installed VS 10 did you do a clean install?

This basically involved un-installing
Then deleting all remaining Vs 10 files.

There are some files left after un-installing

Also try un-installing Quick Time, then re-installing
You could try the same with the Indeo driver as well.

Thank you for your input. the thing is i have already had the same problem with trial version online. I figured it was the trial version problem so i went and bought the full version. And yes, i have done the clean install. I am faced with the same problem....

I always select NTSC-DVD. I have followed the RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE - UPDATED FOR VERSION 10+ like the Bible. I have also tried to create a whole new project with correct settings and no luck there either.

funny thing is i have even tried to use the default video that comes with the vs10 for testing and it still crashed when i try to burn with the menu option box checked. I just can't seem to go past that screen.

Regards!!

mecute,

curious, I just got a hang - not the same crash as you, but a hang for about 15 secs. I did the check box, but did not add chapters. I usually add chapters using the button right above the check box. I never work in 16:9, so this is the first I've seen it.

I don't get the hang if I add some chapters, I just create every 3 minutes. If you ever get past this screen you can delete the chapter menu if you like.
