Combining different format videos

Post by ranazarian »

I appreciate all the help on this board. My dilema is that I have to compile a video from 3 different sources. I have AVI that's type 2, MPEG-2 with upper field first and MPEG2-2 with lower field first. I really need to mix and match these as some are cut aways of the same action in 2 different formats. Any suggestions on how I should set my project properties or if I need to preprocess them separately to get them to all be the same? My final output targets will be MPEG 2 for computer playback and DVD. Thanks again.

Take your pick, because the outcome is going to be the same if you try to use all three together in the same project.

However you do have a little lattitude, in that you have 1 of the 3 that could be used either way. Which one you ask??? The DV-AVI, you could drop that in the timeline storyboard, and then without editing it go to Share>Create Video File, and render a video file to one of the other two formats. Now you will only have 1 odd-ball to contend with.

I think that if you try to reverse the field order on that one, you are going to end up with a jittery video.

Maybe some the real smart guys may have solution to this, and be along to help further..
