VS10+ loses Video Filter function
I have had to reinstall VS10+ four times now as the Video Filter feature simply disappears from the menu. Sometimes, by the time I have edited a movie and am ready to add some effects to it, the video filter selection is just not there.
Luckily I noticed was there the first time I used VS otherwise I would not even know it existed!!
Anybody know why it might keep disappearing and how I could stop it. I have tried the repair fucntion through Add/Remove Programs but only a full uninstall and reinstall makes it come back.
Thanks
jason

I also experienced the same. I will ask for technical support. Have you managed to find the solution insteas of full un/reinstall?

Video Filter disappears
Hi,
I had this problem too. I found the answer by searching before the crash of the forum. Cannot remember the link that was posted then but I remember the fix.
Let me try to explain it so that you can do it. This fix works great for Windows XP. I have not tried it for other versions.
1. Create a new user with the same rights as you. Configuration Panel - User Accounts. Once done. Login with that user and start VideoStudio. It will recreate the files it needs to start faster the next time.
Be sure that you can see all the system hidden files.
Then
2. Copy the newly created VFilter.rsf in c:\Documents and Settings\working user\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0\
to
c:\Documents and Settings\not working user\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0\
3. Login with the old user and everything should be corrected. Once you've tested it, you could delete the other user.

Terry's method does work, but it also sets everything back to default settings, just as doing a Repair from the CD would do. All custom libraries, etc. are lost.
To save your custom libraries you must copy them (put them in another folder), then paste them back after you have restored the Video Filter per Terry's instructions.
The library files you need to copy are:
Video = VS_Video.dat
Audio = VS_Audio.dat
Images = VS_Image.dat
(The same format applies to titles, flash, colors, etc.)
They can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio, in the appropriate folder 8.0---9.0---10.0¡X11.0

refinement
Thanks for all the info above - without which I would have been totally unable to refine the above advice as folows :
The simplest solution seems to be to locate the vfilter.rsf file in your profile as described above. Then rename it to something else (eg zzvfilter.rsf) - or delete it if you're brave and like to burn your bridges - and then restart Video studio 10. It appears the file is simply recreated (correctly) when it is found to be missing.
This certainly worked for me at least.

lost video filters
I seem to be having the same problem...and have read all the threads and not sure which method to go with. I just noticed the problem in VS11+ - the filters were there the other day and now they are not. I don't want to lost my libraries, so I guess the first step is to back them up. Can someone provide the explaination again as to where to find them. I know they are hidden.
Then what is the best/easiest solution?
I was thinking of rolling my computer back a day or two to see if they reappeared.
VS11+ crashes ALL the time - so it's no wonder that something got lost.
The vft folder is still in my program files.

video filters lost
I have located the vfilter.rsf file and the ulead libs in the hidden files and folders in application data. I don't see the uvs.ini file.
I'm wondering if I can just back up the vfilter.rsf file ( copy and paste it to my desktop?) then delete it from the application data folder and re open ulead. Will I lose my libraries using this method? Will this method work?
thanks.
