No video file shows up after "creating video"

Post by voidix »

I am trying to render my movie, I have created videos in the past without problem, but for some reason it is not working this time. I am trying to render a 20min video at fairly high quality, and the times that I have tried it it has taken about 5 hours to finish. However, after the progress bar is completed there is simply no file created. I left my computer on, starting the creation process, and left for school. When I came back home to progress bar had finished but no file was present. I have tried to render it 3 times now, and it seems to be failing every time. I tried it at a very low quality and it worked fine...any idea what's wrong?

So far, in essence, you have told us "I started with X trying to produce Y", but we don't even know what X and Y are, let alone the steps you took along the way to start with X and the move to Y. We also have no idea of your computer resources. Without such information we can't even begin to guess...

Average specced computer, 1g ram, 3.0gh processor, good video card. All top of the line stuff as of 3 years ago. I have been using Ulead for a few months now, I have created 2 full length films without problems other than random crashes/errors.

I really don't know what information will help you in figuring out what the problem might be other than the fact that I go to render my movie, I wait 5 hours, and when its done there is simply no file there. I am rendering in WMV, custom settings, 1500 bit rate, 800x600 resolution, top sound quality available. I have the latest Windows media pack, ie the latest codecs. I have tried creating the video 3 times now with these settings, all with the same result. There is simply no file to be found once the progress bar has gone from 1 to 100%.

I tried once more on the lowest possible WMV quality and it worked fine...

Also, I have rendered this same video a few times now as my editing progressed, and it all worked ok up until these passed few days. I like to export my videos as I create them so I can take a look without Ulead lagging while its playing. Perhaps the latest bits of video/audio that I added to my timeline are causing some trouble?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Ulead.

I have Ulead Video Studio 10

Ok, so now we know you are trying to output WMV files. How about telling us what the original files you are working with are? What are the properties of those files and thier source?

mostly high quality AVI files, a few medium quality WMV files, MP3/WAV for audio. I'm also using JPG and PNG images. TO give you an idea of the quality of the original source files, I have 20min of footage taking up 14G of space. The movie I'm trying to out-put in WMV will be around 300MB when I get things to work.

I recently tried rendering with an MPEG2 compressor with similar quality to that of the WMV I would like end up with, and it finished without error. I want WMV though, not mpg.

I've also installed the SP1 update for VS10.

Can you right click on one of the "high quality" AVI files and post the properties here? They could be anything as AVI is a container only.

Framerate - 30 fps
Video Sample Size - 12bit
Video Compression - Fraps (screen recording software used to create the fils)
Resolution - 640x480

That's the only information I see.
