I have mastered the slide shows and have no problems with it.
Now I am onto video. Have 3 clips each about 18 min long. Making a disk with a title page is not a problem. As soon as I add chapters to each video and try to render it, about at 33% one of these things happen.
1- Ulead freezes, not even "Cancel" works. Any other programs work on top of Ulead, so it is Unlead that is freezind not the computer.
2- Warning message comes up "Ulead has encountered problems and must close"
3- when I run Batch convert at 99% "ulead has encountered a problem and must shut down"
Vhy is VideoStudio so unstabble? I have lost days trying to complete my work and still nothing.
Anoying at least because 33% takes about 90 min.
Why does adding chapters upset the program? Any ideas welcome.
Total file size with chapters is 3.72 GB, well below the disk capacity.

I know you have tried to include a lot of information, but I am afraid we need some clarifications.
The most important relates to the exactly properties of the video files your are trying to burn to DVD. Right click on these files within VS and copy down the Properties here.
Related to this, can you tell us the exact steps in your work flow: in other words, where did the video files come from (a digital video camera, a DVD, other?), how were they captured (firewire, usb, other?), what format were they captured and edited in (DV/AVI or mpeg?). Did you, after editing, first go to Share > Create Video File > DVD to produce a DVD-compliant mpeg-2, or did you jump this step and go straight to Share > Create Disc > DVD? Depending on the format of the files you are trying to burn, VS may be trying to convert them to DVD-compliance, as well as do all the other things relating to burning, all on the fly. Some computers do not have enough resources to do this. So we also need to know something about your computer set-up.
Finally, at which point did you insert the chapters -- during the editing phase, or only when you opened the burning module?

Ok, first we need to know
1 Your video and project properties. Right-click on a video clip in the timeline and post the properties here please. Your project properties should match that of your video clips.
2. Your workflow.. Are you following the recommended procedures layed out in the sticky located at the top of this forum?
1. Capture your video
2. Edit your video, doing all cuts, transitions, overlays, titles, music narration etc...
3. Create a DVD-compatible MPEG file...by going to Share>Create Video File, and creaing a DVD compatible file (either NTSC or PAL), depending on where you live.
4. Go to the File menu, select New Project. This clears your timeline. Now without adding anything to the timeline...
5. Go to Share>Create Disc... This opens the burn module. Select Insert video, navigate to the DVD compatible MPEG file you just created, and insert it.
6. Build your menus, and add chapters.
7. (Optional by recommended) Create DVD folders, or is commonly called burn to your harddrive. This allows you to test it before actually burning to disc.
8. If all is ok, then you can now burn your disc, using VS or another DVD burning program.
Note that VS10+ forgets the chapter points add to the project while editing, if you create a video file first. However if you go directly to the burn module, it will retain them. However we don't recommend this, because it can create problems, while trying to do everything at once. So it is best to create your chapters in the burn module.
Next make sure you shutdown all applications running in the background. This allows VS to use as much resources your PC can provide it. You might also check to see if you have any Drag n' drop burn applications similiar to Uleads Quick Drop. Roxio and Nero both have one. Nero's application will have to be unistalled, and Roxio's disabled, as they tend to interfere with Ulead's burn module.
Lastly it may be a compatibiltiy issue with the type of media you're using. Have your tried Burning to your harddrive, using another disc brand, or just using another disc.
I hope that gets you started in correcting the issue.. If not, others will be jumping in soon..
