How do you complete a selection to make an object in UGA 5?

Post by catwoman07076 »

I am working on an animation I created in Ulead Photoimpact 10. When I had all the frames lined up in GIF Animator 5, I decided I wanted to add black pupils to eyes I had created in several of the frames, and in some of the eyes are open over two or three frames. So I painted them in frame one, and was going to make a selection across the entire eye-set to paste onto the other two frames, so that I wouldn't have to try to redraw them perfectly, and they would be exact duplicates. I used the selection tools -- I tried the rectangle and the lasso (which I double-click at the end), and while I get the box or the shape's dashed outline, I don't get marching ants, and I don't have a selection. I merely have a box that I can move around on top of my image. I've tried double clicking inside the box or shape; and I've tried right-clicking to see if there is a "Convert to Object" as in PI, but neither has produced the desired result. The option, "Convert to Image" is greyed out, so that's not available, either.

My UGA 5 doesn't seem to have a manual, so I couldn't look there for the answer. I tried the Help menu first, but it only tells me which selection button does what, and how to draw the rectangle around the object, but it stops there. It doesn't say that one won't have an object yet. I also tried going to Ulead's tech support FAQ, and this isn't covered. Oh, yes, I should also say that I DID select the entire image so that I could do things to it, just like when I painted the first pupils.

Does anyone know how to make a selection that becomes an object? :?

Thank you for any help at all,

Gigi

Using the selection tool of your choice, select what you need.

Make sure the object you want to copy from is selected in the Object Manager.

Click the copy button, then paste. You will now have a new object.

That's it! :)
