PhotoImpact 12: Initializing ResizableWnd.dll

Corwin

Post by Corwin »

Hello everyone,

I recently bought an upgrade to PI 12 and installed it.

When it starts it says:
initializing ResizableWnd.dll
and after about 40 seconds it closes.

There is no message, no message in the system's log.
I tried the tips posted in this forum in this thread but
they did not work.
I also posted a message to tech-support, but did not get
an answer yet.

If I can't run PI 12 I'll try to give it back, but that's only
possible for a few days after purchase, so I have to know
quite fast, if it will work or not.

Currently I'm running PI 8, had a demo version of PI 10, which
is deleted now.
The locale is german. I've checked the libraries and they are
like 2log posted. The language of ResizableWnd.dll is Taiwan
though.
The program was installed as non-Admin user with full Admin
privileges.

Thanks for any info,
Michael

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.
The program was installed as non-Admin user with full Admin
privileges.
Have you tried to run the program as an Admin User?

Perhaps you need to uninstall using Our Procedure and then using an admin user account re-install the program.

Thanks for the tips,
I first tried to repair the installation and got errors:
CRC-Error in cab-file: for
German/Info.ini
German/Setup/OEM/TargetMain/All/u32RawAdjust.dll
German/Setup/OEM/TargetMain/All/u32RAWDeNoise.dll
German/Setup/OEM/TargetMain/All/u32RotateFujiFilm.dll
then I aborted.
None of these files seemed to be in the Ulead directory.
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it.
Still did not work.
Then I called repair again, same results: CRC-Errors.

It seems either the wrong files got packaged or
the CD is really broken (copy protection?).
Or my DVD-drive is not working
correctly.
Anyway, I am going to exchange the software,
maybe another copy will work.

Thanks,
Michael

Aha CRC errors - Cyclic Redundancy Check :D
You have a faulty disc.

This worked for me, too. I have no idea why. I had previously installed PhotoImpact 8 on XP Pro without a problem, but PhotoImpact 12 wants to be lied to for some reason.

Same Problem

Post by dafalias »

I am experiencing the same problem on a Win 2000 / SP4 machine.
However, on my backup system with basically the same installation PI 12 starts with no problems.
I need it to work on my main system though.
The main difference between the two machines is the hardware - on my main system I have a Matrox Dualhead Graphics Adapter, that may cause the issue.
PI 11 runs very stable though.

Compatibility mode works

Post by dafalias »

2log's solution does not work on Windows 2000 as stated, since the compatibility wizard exists from XP on only.
There is a way, however, to activate compatibility mode in Windows 2000, as stated on http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;279792
Why PI 12 works on one workstation with essentially the same installation, and doesn't on the other I do not know.
btw, You have to switch to "Windows 95"-mode, even Win 98 mode doesn't work. At least not on my computer.

This problem seems caused by some AMD CPU!

Hallo,

I have the same problem with Win 2000 / SP4.
Windows 95 compatibility mode solves this problem, but I can
switch to w95 mode only as administrator.
How can a standard user run a program in compatibility mode?

Thanks for any info,
Gianpaolo

Hi,

UIPL.dll is a DLL file to load Intel optimized DLLs in Ulead products. I would not suggest to delete this file to solve the issue if you are using a Intel CPU.

I deleted UIPL.dll.
Now PI12 starts but crashes when I attempt to open a file.

I guess we know why H.T. advised against this...

I would guess that you are going to have to do a clean uninstall/reinstall now, or at least replace that driver file. Unless you know what you are doing, it's not good practice to delete DLL files..
