PhotoImpact 12: Initializing ResizableWnd.dll

Post by 2log »

Hi everyone,

I haven't actually experienced the problem so I can't troubleshoot this one. Has anyone experienced a crashing problem while loading with the above error message (Initializing ResizableWnd.dll)?

I don't know exactly what causes this but you might want to take note of the following:

*PhotoImpact 12 does not support screen resolutions lower than "1024x768".

*Make sure that your version of ResizableWnd.dll is not actually a virus. A computer virus is a computer program that has the unique ability to replicate. Computer viruses can spread quickly and are often difficult to contain and eradicate. They often attach themselves with a common executable or DLL file and are spread as files that are copied and sent from individual to individual. Scan this particular file and your whole computer for any viruses then do the outlined check below:

1. Go to "System Drive:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 12"
2. Search for the "ResizableWnd.dll" file, right click on it and select "Properties".
3. Please take note of the following information:

Under the "General" tab:
* File size should be 56.0 KB (57,344 bytes).
* The "Read-only" and "Hidden" attributes should be unchecked.

Under the "Version" tab:
* File version: 12.0.0.0
* Description: ResizableWnd DLL
* Copyright: Copyright (c) 1992-2005. Ulead Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.

Then "Other version information":
* Company: Ulead Systems, Inc.
* File Version: 11.0.0.0
* Internal Name: ResizableWnd
...
* Product Name: Ulead PhotoImpact
* Product Version: 12.0.0.0

Under the "Security" tab:
* Your user account should have full access rights to this particular file. If you don't, then you need to use PhotoImpact from within a User Account with "Administrator" or "Power-user" privilages.

Let me know how it works for you. If anyone has tried other troubleshooting steps that has worked, please share it with the rest of us.

Hi 2log,

So far no problems with PI-12. It fires up quickly too. I just completed a complete virus scan earlier today, and virus free.

Checked the file on my system and it matches with the info you provided.

I don't have the security tab either, but I'm guessing that is a feature found in XP Pro. I'm using XP Home..

security tab

You'll get a security tab if you use the NTFS file system (for the hard disk). You won't have one if you use FAT32... (anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.)

The Security tab will be available if your Windows has joined a network domain, and it's only available in WinXP Pro.

I do not have the issue with ResizableWnd.dll....

The security tab only exists in Windows XP Pro it does not exist in Windows XP Home Edition. You must also be using the NTFS filing system and not FAT32.

It is not displayed by default, you have to turn it on.
To display the Security tab follow these steps

Compatibility wizard

A user with Windows 2000 SP4 shared a solution that worked for him. He set the compatibility wizard to Windows 95. You can find the steps for this from the Ulead KB:
