Capture Card

I have a laptop with VS 8 SE but no capture card. I'm going to upgrade this program to VS 10 Plus. I've already burnt a home movie onto a DVD using my desktop computer. Will the laptop need a capture card for VS 10 Plus to capture from the DVD drive ?

No, there is a capture or rip from disk feature in video studio for this.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
