installation instructions say to uninstall previous version

Post by Jack B »

I finally uninstalled PI 7 so I could finally install PI 8 which I've had sitting here for years it seems. Anyway, the installation instructions say to "make sure to uninstall the previous version...before installing the latest version." So that's what I did. But now I can't install PI 8 because it is an upgrade and says that a previous version needs to be installed! So then why didn't the #$@%&! instructions say that!! I can't find the CD of PI 7, so what should I do?!

Have you got your 'System Restore' enabled. If so try turning back the clock.

I have never uninstalled a previous version. On my Win98 desktop I have every version from 4.2 to the last on that works on Win 98 - PI 10 I think it was, and on my WinXP laptop I have 5, 10, 11 and 12. (5 is there because I created all the materials, lettering, backdrops etc. for my website and put them in the easy palette in 5, and it is the latest version that stored font and font size as well as material when you put text in your gallery.) So long as every version has its own subfolder in the Program files\Ulead\ folder they all work fine.

I agree about the go-back. Do that so you are back to PI 7 installed and then just install 8 as well.
