Hi,
I tried to capture TV from a Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP card using VS10Plus SP1. When I set the field priority order by using the autodetect function it says lower fields first although the source is cable TV through the TV tuner.
Is this weird or is this normal ?

The end test is whether the auto-detected field order works in the final edited DVD. I happen to have a Winfast DV2000 TV/capture card on one of my computers -- not exactly the same card as the OP's, but very similar and of course from the same company. From the very beginning, I noted -- and posted here -- that it used Lower Field First by default, even when capturing TV to DVD-compliant mpeg-2. And the final DVDs were fine when I used this captured video. I have simply assumed that for some quirky reason, this particular card model uses LFF for analogue captures.
I don't think it is alone in this, though can't cite any other card which does it. But as we *do* know, there are some digital video cameras which use Upper Field First, when the great majority use Lower Field First. This is just by way of saying that there appear always to be some few exceptions to the rule.
So by all means, manually change the Field Order as maddrummer suggests. But if in your edited video appears to have jagged edges during pans or other visual artifacts, then accept what your card defaults to instead.

Yes. I agree it is weird and I see what you mean. I had never checked in that .ini file but will do so when I get the chance. (That computer is now at my holiday house.) All I can say is that the card defaulted to LFF and it always worked, with no complaints...
EDIT: I just checked my uvDeviceField.ini file and found that the old analogue TV card is still listed in my current computer. Moreover, it is definitely designated '2' i.e. Lower Field First. My new Winfast DTV2000H which replaced it, is '1' i.e. Upper Field First. Interestingly enough, in view of my earlier comment about not being able to cite other cases, a small, plug-in HDTV USB dongle which I only bought a couple of weeks ago, also shows it uses Lower Field First. I have not tried to capture from that device yet, however.
