After doing several burns, I got this error message on 5 different tries. It seemed to happen at the writing at 4.0x (5540 KB/s) stage about half way through the process. I only had one of these among my previous 6-8 burn attempts. I had just started a new package of DVD¡¦s, took those back, and now I can¡¦t even get to the 4X option (it only gives me 16X).
I have reinstalled this software 3 times after writing the technical support department and getting their ¡§canned¡¨ response (which is also found on the Ulead site): ¡§Please logon as Administrator and try this reinstallation procedure;
1.Launch Windows Explorer and go to tools\folder option\advance setting to check "show hidden files and folders".
2.Clean up temp files from\Start menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Disk Cleanup.
3.Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems"
4.Delete the folder for Ulead VideoStudio 10.
5.Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems"
6.Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
7.Delete the folder "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}"
8.Go to Start-->Run
9.type "regedit"
10.Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio"
11.Delete the folder "10.0"
12.Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio"
13.Delete the folder "10.0"
14.Close "Regedit"
15.Restart Windows
16.Reinstall VideoStudio 10 and VS 10 Content Pack.
*** the VS 10 SP 1 patch
Please restart the computer after each program installations.
Please avoid the unnecessary conflict, temporarily turn off all applications includes anti virus, norton utilities, or the other memory resident program and the Internet connection etc. before you run VideoStudio 10.¡¨
Am I looking at another reinstallation?

I think we can rule out having too much data for the disc to be able to hold, as you usually get that warning before the burning even starts. But it would nonetheless be useful to know the properties of your burning project.
It would also be helpful to know a bit about your work flow. For instance, before opening the burning module, did you first produce fully DVD-compliant mpeg-2 files using Share > Create Video File > DVD. Or did you go straight from editing in the timeline to burn your disc?
Do you have packet writing software on your computer like Nero's InCD or a similar program in the Roxio suite? This takes control of the burner and tends to interfere heavily with other's program's access to the burner... With InCD you have to totally uninstall it, though the Roxio program allows you to disable it temporarily from within the program.
Finally, instead of wasting blank discs, have you thought of buying a rewritable RW disc or two? That way you can see if things work properly before commiting to a final once-only R disc...

I should have mentioned on the previous 6-8 burns that worked, I was basically doing the same thing with a few minor corrections in the project itself. In fact, I was doing multiple copies when this problem came on the second copy.
Space-wise, I'm only burning 1.79 GB for a 32 min 48 sec movie.
My work flow has been project-create video file-burn.
I have no packet writing software that may interfere
The last time I couldn't even get to the burn page, re-installed, and it worked until now. This software seems very unstable to me. Is that your sense as well?
As I write this, I got to the 4X stage at least, and we'll see what happens shortly At the 6:52 mark of a 13 minute burn, I got the same message.

OK - Problem solved! My DVD burner on our new Dell computer (bought last May) died! They came out and replaced it and everything appears to be OK at least after one burn. I will be making copies later today and I'm anticipating no more problems.
FYI, in my many discussions with Dell, they told me NOT to use the Memorex brand of DVD. So, I pass that along for what it's worth
Thank you for all your help
